My love of watercolour painting first began in 2020, not long after the birth of my son. Experiencing new motherhood in the pandemic era, I needed to absorb myself in something creative that brought me a sense of self. I found a mini watercolour set in a drawer and was immediately hooked with the magic of playing with colour and water, finding a feeling of freedom in mixing paints and watching the colours flow together to create exciting new ones, always seeming to create an unplanned for effect with beautiful blooms of transparent colour in subtle shades and gradients. I began trying new papers, brushes, subjects and styles - making lots of messes without the pressure of it needing to mean anything.

Since then I've spent a lot of time developing my style. I am still figuring out what I really like to paint and which aspects of myself I want to represent through artwork. I have learnt so much about how to use my art materials from the focus I've had in my work to date, centred around florals and landscapes. I love to practice new painting skills and lately enjoyed experimenting with mixed media.
